Adelaide House Sagging Gutter

WE SPECIALISE IN REPLACEMENT DOWNPIPES AND GUTTERS

Most gutter and downpipe systems on Adelaide homes typically last 30-40 years before requiring professional gutter replacement services. Adelaide homeowners should watch for key warning signs including rust appearing on guttering surfaces, leaks at gutter joins, water overflowing during heavy rainfall, or water jumping off roof edges instead of flowing through the guttering system properly.

Many older Adelaide guttering systems struggle with South Australia’s intense seasonal rainfall due to undersized gutters and insufficient downpipes. These inadequate guttering installations can lead to water damage, foundation issues, and costly home repairs if not addressed promptly.

Our Adelaide gutter replacement specialists ensure your new guttering system is correctly sized and designed to handle Adelaide’s unpredictable weather patterns. We install quality Bluescope Colourbond guttering with properly positioned downpipes to protect your home year-round.

Call 0482 170 806 or use our online contact form to schedule your consultation. Don’t wait for the next storm season – protect your Adelaide home with professional guttering solutions now.

COST OF GUTTER REPLACEMENT IN ADELAIDE

Every Adelaide house is different to the next. The size of the roof and design of the gutter and downpipe system can vary and therefore its always hard to put a simple price per metre to gutter replacement job. In most of our more simple, run of the mill type gutter replacements on a single storey home with good access the cost is usually under $100 per linear metre + GST. This is a turn key job and includes gutters, pvc unpainted downpipes on stainless steel downpipe brackets. It also covers all rubbish removal including original gutters.

BENEFITS OF GUTTER AND DOWNPIPE REPLACEMENT

Replacing your old gutters and downpipes ensures you have another 30 – 40 years of perfectly functioning roof drainage system. With the increased chances of freak storms in the Adelaide region over recent years its also a good Idea when replacing gutters to fit a gutter of adequate or increased water flow capacity. We also recommend the installation of 90mm PVC round downpipes as opposed to the small and metal original downpipes.

Replacement Downpipes and Guttering with size increase

When we replace a set of gutters and downpipes we almost always upgrade the whole system. This is done by using gutter profiles that are capable of handling the correct amount of potential rain water flow. Not only the correct profile but an increase in cross sectional size of the gutter is of significant benefit. We always recommend installing 90mm round PVC downpipes rather than the smaller rectangular sheet metal downpipes. The PVC has double the flow potential. In many cases we also fit additional downpipes.

Combine a Roof Restoration With Gutter replacement

If you are considering a roof restoration or a gutter replacement there are several reasons why it makes sense to have both jobs done at the same time. Firstly, you only need us, just one trade and one person managing both jobs. It also provides a better quality job overall. When appointed to do both a roof restoration and gutter replacement, we will pressure clean the roof surface first. This means all the dirty roof water flows through the old gutters just before they are removed.

The shiny new gutters never need to be subject to this dirty stage. We also have the option of lifting the last hip cap tile on the hip ends as we know the pointing will be redone during the restoration. Lifting the caps allows the guttering replacement specialist better access to the corner to make a top quality join and mitre.

Yes. As we only use gutters rolled from Genuine Bluescope Colorbond every colour in the Colorbond range is available for your replacement gutters. We will ensure the colour matches your roof if chosen or some clients prefer a contrasting colour to the roof for a bordering effect. The choice is yours.

Having correctly sized and well operating gutters and downpipes is essential regardless of the area. Often the bushfire areas are in the Adelaide hills and these areas tend to get hit with more extreme weather and rain events. We can also install premium bushfire Ember rated gutter mesh to your new gutters in the hills areas or anywhere with a leaf or tree problem.

Again this is always a difficult question to answer as it depends on several factors. A reasonably straight forward gutter and downpipe replacement to a single storey home with 70 – 80 metres of gutters will generally take 4 – 5 days to complete.

We try to give good value with our pricing. Our finished work is flawless and we only use quality products. On straight forward gutter replacement jobs with no scaffolding or access problems the cost is usually under $100 per lineal metre. The cost will obviously increase if the complexity of the job increases or if scaffolding for high level access is required.

Yes and no. We recommend any gutter profile to be chosen as long as the new gutter has the same or greater cross sectional area of the original gutter. We never allow downsizing of the gutter as this may cause water flow issues. Generally all the modern profiles are the same as the old but 10mm bigger. The most common and one of the best gutters found around Adelaide is the fascia gutter.

Yes, we actually recommend having additional downpipes installed and ensuring all downpipes are 90mm PVC rather than the old 50mm x 100mm Rectangular steel downpipes installed in the 70s and 80s. We do not work below ground level so a storm water contractor may be required to follow us and connect your new additional downpipes into the site stormwater system

In cases where the original timber fascias don’t look to good or have developed some rot over the years we recommend installing Colorbond Fascia covers. This product essentially clads over the original timber fascias and ensures they never get wet from rain water again. The product is virtually maintenance free and doesn’t trigger heavy destructive work of removing timber fascias and risking asbestos eave linings falling out.

Depending on the specific conditions of a specific area, gutters last on average 30 - 40 years. In areas where damp tree debris are allowed to sit in the base of a gutter for extended periods of time the life of guttering is usually a little shorter. Some coastal areas with higher salt levels tend to corrode or rust earlier than inland areas also. As a rule of thumb, If your guttering is around 40 years old it will need replacing in the near future.

Yes certainly it can and this often forms part of the reasoning to have gutters replaced. Modern gutter profiles are actually very similar to or even exactly the same as older profiles other than being 10-15mm wider. This slightly larger gutter assists in rainwater handling capacity and also allows for the installation of larger 90mm downpipes, an upgrade that allows a guttering and downpipe system to perform far better when compared to the old 50mm x 100mm sheet metal downpipes used in previous decades.
